KATHMANDU: Opposition parties, including the main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Centre), the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and the Rastriya Swatantra Party, disrupted the Parliament session on Wednesday to protest the removal of Kulman Ghising from the position of Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

The protest was sparked by the Cabinet’s decision to replace Ghising with Hiterdev Shakya as the new Executive Director of NEA during Monday’s Cabinet meeting. Shakya assumed his new role on Tuesday.

Kulman Ghising was appointed as the NEA Executive Director on 24th Shrawan 2078 through a Cabinet decision.

Just three days after his appointment letter was issued on 27th Shrawan, Ghising replaced Shakya in the position.

In a twist, Shakya had filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging the decision of his replacement by Ghising at the time of his appointment.
