KATHMANDU: In the case of the death of Armed Police Force Inspector Santoshi Mahat, who was found hanging inside a barrack in Pokhara, two individuals have been sent to jail.
On Monday, the Kaski District Court, under the bench of Judge Bholanath Dhakal, ordered the detention of Armed Police Force Inspector Bibek Joshi, who is posted at the Armed Police Force Number-23, Manakamana Battalion in Tanahun, and Police Constable Resham Bahadur Shahi, who is posted at the Riot and Crowd Management Training School in Lamapatan, Pokhara-14.
They have been sent to jail for further investigation under the charge of abetment to suicide.
Inspector Mahat, who had been undergoing basic training, was found dead on 10th Falgun near a women’s restroom at the Riot and Crowd Management Training School in Lamapatan Barracks.
The following day, Mahat’s family filed a complaint at the Kaski District Police Office accusing Bibek Joshi of having a romantic relationship with Mahat and of being involved in the incident.
The family alleged that this led to Mahat’s suicide.
