‘Anjila’ to release simultaneously in 16 countries
The final stages for the Australian release are currently underway, according to producer Prem Kumar Shrestha.

KATHMANDU: The Nepali movie ‘Anjila,’ based on the life of Nepali women’s national football team captain Anjila Thumpapo Subba, is set to release in 16 countries simultaneously.
The movie will be screened in countries such as the United States, Croatia, Qatar, Bahrain, Malta, Denmark, Portugal, Hong Kong, South Korea, Finland, Canada, Dubai, Singapore, Japan, Belgium, and Sweden.
The final stages for the Australian release are currently underway, according to producer Prem Kumar Shrestha.
Furthermore, Shrestha revealed that there is high demand for the movie in the United Kingdom, and it will be gradually released across all major cities there.
After its successful premiere in Nepal on the auspicious day of Phagu Purnima, the movie became a massive hit.
Following this success, the film is now being released in countries with a significant Nepali diaspora.
Due to its positive reviews and remarkable box office performance in Nepal, there was significant demand for an international release.
The movie will begin screening overseas on March 29.
In the U.S., the film will be distributed by Seven Seas International, with Patrick Subedi handling the release. In Canada, Agan Events and I & U Entertainment will be responsible for the distribution.
Similarly, in Japan, the movie will be released by UNA Entertainment, while Mama Event will handle the release in Finland.
The film will be distributed by Sathibhai Entertainment in the Middle East, and Magwart Productions will manage its release in Malta.
Director Milan Chams shared that the number of shows is increasing daily, with a growing number of viewers. “This love and trust have added energy to the film. I have seen even 83-year-old mothers watching the film. When they leave the cinema happy, it brings me immense satisfaction. I can’t express the joy of bringing people to the theaters, making them happy, and sending them home fulfilled,” he said.
The movie has received critical acclaim from both critics and audiences for its storyline, presentation, acting, and direction. ‘Anjila’ portrays the inspiring journey of Anjila Thumpapo Subba, who moves from a difficult family background to pursue her dream of becoming a professional footballer in Kathmandu.
The film beautifully depicts the struggles she faced before and after arriving in the capital.
Directed by Milan Chams and produced by Prem Kumar Shrestha, who also plays a role in the movie as Anjila’s ‘Godfather,’ the film features Anjila herself in the lead role. Mao Tse Gurung and Dayahang Rai play the roles of Anjila’s father, while Srijana Subba portrays her mother.
Sumin Gurung plays the role of her brother, and Sunil Thapa takes on the role of her coach.
The movie also features performances by Buddhi Tamang, Vijay Baral, Manju Shrestha, and several other talented actors.
