Turkish police detain 12 suspects in connection with attack on Iraqi Consulate in Istanbul

KATHMANDU: Turkish authorities have arrested 12 individuals suspected of being involved in the attack on the Iraqi Consulate in Istanbul on Friday.

According to the Ihlas News Agency, the police launched an extensive operation starting on Sunday.

Raids were conducted in multiple locations across Istanbul and the western Izmir province.

Among those arrested were individuals suspected of planning and inciting the attack at the consulate building, located in the Sisli district of Istanbul’s European side, which occurred on March 21.

During the search operations, the police seized a long-barreled gun and a stolen motorcycle from the suspects’ residences.
