Minister Pandey announces plan to lease aircraft for Nepal Airlines’ resumption
He emphasized that adding more aircraft is the only solution to effectively operate the aviation sector.

KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has announced plans to lease additional aircraft in order to resume operations of Nepal Airlines.
Speaking at a meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee held at Singha Durbar on Monday, Minister Pandey stated that efforts are being made with urgency in the civil aviation sector to yield results.
He emphasized that adding more aircraft is the only solution to effectively operate the aviation sector.
Minister Pandey further mentioned that there have been direct flight proposals from several countries, highlighting the need to add 10 wide-body and 10 narrow-body aircraft.
He also pointed out the challenges arising from passengers seeking to fly exclusively on flag carrier airlines.
He revealed that the process of leasing aircraft and operating them is now in the final stages.
The government is also in the process of formulating an aviation policy to address existing challenges in the sector.
In addition, Minister Pandey acknowledged the need for a detailed study to remove ticket price disparities between foreign and domestic airlines.
