KATHMANDU: A key meeting called by Prime Minister Oli has begun at Singha Durbar, with top leaders of major political parties in attendance.

The meeting includes Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, and other prominent figures.

According to Prime Minister’s advisor Agni Kharel, the primary focus of the discussions will be on transitional justice.

The meeting is expected to address a range of current issues, including transitional justice, which remains a significant topic of concern.

The leaders are expected to discuss the formation of a recommendation committee, which is crucial for appointing officials to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Disappeared Persons Investigation Commission, both of which are still lacking key personnel.

Although the government has shown a commitment to concluding the process of transitional justice, the lack of agreement among political parties has led to delays.

The appointment of officials to these commissions can only proceed once the recommendation committee is formed.

As such, today’s meeting is seen as potentially decisive in breaking the deadlock and advancing the process.
