Fire at Shangrila Ply Industry still uncontrolled
The authorities continue to urge the public to remain cautious as the fire continues to spread.

KATHMANDU: A devastating fire that started at the Shangrila Ply Industry in Khaira, Ward No. 9 of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City, Dang, at 2 AM last night, is still raging and has yet to be brought under control.
According to Krishna Prasad Lamsal, the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Dang, the fire is still out of control despite the ongoing efforts to extinguish it.
Currently, seven fire trucks are working tirelessly to contain the blaze.
Firefighting teams have been mobilized from neighboring areas, including Ghorahi, Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, Lamahi Municipality, Bansgadhi Municipality in Bardiya, Kohalpur Municipality in Banke, Shivraj Municipality in Kapilvastu, and Rupandehi.
However, the delay in controlling the fire is mainly due to the large volume of materials used in ply production that are fueling the flames.
“With so much material involved in the fire, it is taking longer than expected to extinguish,” CDO Lamsal said. “Although the nearby settlements are at risk, the danger to them has been minimized.”
The fire is believed to have caused damages amounting to millions, although the exact extent of the loss is still unclear.
The Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, along with local authorities, are all working together in the firefighting efforts.
The fire is believed to have started due to an electrical short circuit.
The authorities continue to urge the public to remain cautious as the fire continues to spread.
