KATHMANDU: The major opposition party, the CPN (Maoist Centre), has once again postponed its Tarai-Madhes Awakening Campaign centered on the Postal Highway.

The campaign, which began on 12th Falgun from Kachankawal in Jhapa, had reached Bara on 24th Falgun before being suspended.

The campaign had resumed from Bara on Thursday and had reached Chitwan, but according to the party president Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’s’ press advisor, Govinda Acharya, the campaign was again suspended starting from Monday.

Acharya mentioned that the campaign was temporarily halted in preparation for the socialist alliance’s mass rally in Kathmandu on 15th Chait.

A meeting of top leaders from three parties is also scheduled to take place today at Singhadarbar.

“The leaders are returning to Kathmandu today,” Acharya stated. After completing the Kathmandu program, the Maoist Centre will hold a meeting and then continue the campaign.

The upcoming programs of the campaign will cover the Gandak region, extending to the Far Western region.

The remaining districts include Nawalpur, Nawalparasi, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Bardiya, Banke, Kailali, and Kanchanpur.
