370 individuals penalized for causing inconvenience to passengers

KATHMANDU: A total of 370 individuals have been penalized for causing distress to passengers at the New Bus Park in Gongabu, Kathmandu.

The Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs National Federation, the umbrella organization of transport operators nationwide, announced these actions during an event held at the New Bus Park on Sunday, aimed at promoting the construction of a safe bus terminal.

Federation President Vijay Bahadur Swarn emphasized that ensuring the safety and passenger-friendly environment of the national bus park is a shared responsibility between Nepal Police, transport operators, and transport workers.

Senior Vice Chair Saroj Sitaula also stressed the need to stop the disruptive behavior of dragging passengers’ bags and causing unnecessary distress at the New Bus Park.

The Chief of the Maharajgunj Police Station, Deputy Superintendent of Police Niranjan Thapa, highlighted that the police are actively working to make the national bus park secure and well-regulated.

Inspector Rajan Khadka, Chief of the New Bus Park Police Station, mentioned that legal action has been initiated against eight individuals arrested so far this fiscal year. Currently, public transport operates from the New Bus Park to 70 districts across the country.

Pankaj Mall, Human Resources Chief of Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt. Ltd., which manages the New Bus Park, noted that recently, staff working within the bus park have been provided with uniforms and identification badges. He encouraged everyone to cooperate with staff for safe travel.

This initiative reflects a broader effort to enhance the safety and convenience of passengers at one of the busiest transportation hubs in the country.
