Paudel denies claims of Finance Ministry dominating budget process
Speaking at the meeting of the Parliament on Sunday, Minister Paudel clarified that there was no truth to such claims.

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has dismissed claims that the Ministry of Finance is attempting to dominate the budget-making process through the Economic Procedures and Financial Accountability (First Amendment) Bill.
Speaking at the meeting of the Parliament on Sunday, Minister Paudel clarified that there was no truth to such claims.
He further emphasized that the bill does not diminish the authority of the National Planning Commission during the budget-making process.
Although the Ministry of Finance leads the budget preparation, he noted that each ministry has its own defined responsibilities.
He also mentioned that the responsibility for budget allocation, in line with the budget ceiling, lies with the respective ministries, not the Ministry of Finance.
According to him, the bill was introduced to finalize the budget through mutual coordination among the Planning Commission, the Ministry of Finance, and the relevant ministries.
Minister Paudel assured that the Ministry of Finance would work within its defined limits during the budget-making process.
