KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stated that the government is focused on making the delivery of services to citizens more effective, hassle-free, and accessible.

He emphasized that the government’s efforts are aimed at ensuring that all citizens have access to state-provided services.

While presenting the 9th Annual Report of the Government of Nepal for the fiscal year 2080/081, which includes key activities of the government, to President Ramchandra Paudel on Sunday, he highlighted that the policies and programs adopted by the government have ensured that students receive textbooks along with their enrollment in schools.

He also mentioned that farmers are provided with fertilizer during planting seasons, and that the government has ensured a sufficient budget for fertilizer procurement and supply management in the current fiscal year.

The Prime Minister further stated that the government has ended long queues for services such as citizenship, passports, licenses, and No Objection Letters for overseas studies.

He explained that efforts have begun to integrate service systems across different government agencies to eliminate the need for individuals to present personal details at every service point.

In the area of foreign employment and the protection of workers’ rights, including the elimination of exploitative practices like usury, the government has initiated measures to safeguard the interests of workers both abroad and in Nepal.

Prime Minister Oli also highlighted the government’s efforts in launching the Citizen App, which aims to make public services efficient and transparent.

He noted that more than 50 services are now integrated into the app, making it easier for citizens to access government services.

Additionally, the Prime Minister spoke about the government’s initiatives to strengthen administrative and financial federalism.

He mentioned that the government has been working on transparent and evidence-based research and analysis to facilitate financial transfers between different levels of government.

Efforts to clarify and finalize the division of responsibilities between the three tiers of government are also a top priority. He also noted significant progress in the development of the hydropower sector, with expanded electricity production and transmission lines, as well as successful international electricity trade.

In terms of the economic situation, Prime Minister Oli acknowledged the pressure on the economy from both internal and external factors but assured that the government is actively working to ease the situation and has achieved some positive results.

He further shared that, by the end of the fiscal year 2080/081, over 16.8 lakh senior citizens aged 68 and above have received social security allowances, and 8.36 lakh children have benefited from child protection grants.

Additionally, 99.9% of children have been enrolled in pre-primary education, and the proportion of women owning land has reached 25%.
