KATHMANDU: Janakpur Provincial Hospital has witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of patients seeking treatment after significant improvements in its healthcare services.

According to Dr. Jamun Prasad Singh, the hospital’s director, the daily patient count has surged from around 200 to 1,200 in recent months due to better management practices.

As part of the management reforms, the hospital introduced a ‘Help Desk’ system and enhanced physical infrastructure, along with improved workforce management, which has contributed to a more efficient and responsive healthcare delivery.

Dr. Singh mentioned that complaints from patients and their families have significantly decreased after the hospital started taking strict action against doctors and healthcare workers who fail to adhere to schedules or responsibilities.

The hospital has ensured timely service provision, transparent and effective medicine distribution, and unbiased surgery practices, all of which have helped improve patient satisfaction.

The hospital’s efforts to address complaints promptly have contributed to the surge in patient numbers.

Prameshwar Yadav, the head of the laboratory department, stated that previously, poor management at the hospital often forced patients to seek treatment at private hospitals.

However, now, under the outpatient services, approximately 1,200 patients visit the provincial hospital daily for treatment.

Dr. Badri Sah, from the hospital’s Social Security Department, highlighted that free healthcare services, including treatment, medicines, and laboratory tests, are provided to underprivileged and destitute patients.

The hospital currently employs around 500 staff members, including doctors, nurses, technicians, administrators, and sanitation workers, as confirmed by administrative head Phul Kumar Yadav.

This concerted effort to improve healthcare quality has not only increased patient numbers but has also helped create a more dependable and accessible healthcare environment for the local community.
