Indian National drowns in Kaligandaki river, body found after five days

KATHMANDU: An Indian national, who went missing five days ago while swimming in the Kali Gandaki River in the Ramdidhama area along the Siddhartha Highway, has been found dead on Sunday.
Shivam Pandey, 25, from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, went missing while swimming on Wednesday afternoon.
His body was discovered nearly one kilometer downstream from the Ramdi Ghat in the Bagnaskali Rural Municipality-5 of Palpa district.
According to the District Police Office, Palpa, Pandey was among four people who went swimming in the river after returning from a trip to Pokhara.
Local residents pointed out that the geographical conditions in the Ramdi area are unfamiliar to many, leading to such tragic incidents.
The river has created whirlpools in the area, and those who are not aware of its conditions often get caught unaware while swimming, as described by local resident Leknath Neupane.
