Teacher held for leaking SEE exam paper

KATHMANDU: A teacher from Saraswati Secondary School in Lamki Kauwapur, Kailali, Deepak Dhimal, was arrested on the first day of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) for allegedly leaking the English exam paper.

The Kailali police confirmed that Dhimal was apprehended near the National Secondary School Motinagar exam center by a team from the Lamki Police Station.

According to Police Inspector Lokendra Bahadur Singh of the Lamki Police Station, Dhimal was caught while sitting with the English exam paper in hand.

It was discovered that the paper had been sent to his mobile through Messenger by Mahendra Dhimal from Achham earlier that morning at 9:30 AM.

Inspector Singh confirmed that the exam committee had been informed about the incident.

In spite of this, the SEE exam on its first day was conducted peacefully in Kailali and other districts of the Far Western region.

Durga Dutta Bista, Director General of the Education Development Directorate in the Far Western Region, confirmed that the exams were carried out smoothly.

This year, the Far Western region has 58,943 candidates participating in the SEE.

Among them, 30,877 are female students and 28,066 are male students.

Of these, 43,923 candidates are from the general stream, 2,092 from the technical stream, and 12,928 from the grade improvement stream.

The distribution of candidates across various districts is as follows: Kailali has the highest number with 19,488 candidates, followed by Kanchanpur with 11,301, Baitadi with 5,362, Achham with 5,029, Doti with 4,062, Bajhang with 4,644, Darchula with 3,037, Bajura with 3,018, and Dadeldhura with 2,802 candidates.
