Forest & Environment Minister aims to create 40,000 jobs in current FY
He expressed confidence that the jobs created in the forest-related sectors would help prevent the migration of youth.

KATHMANDU: The Minister of Forests and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, has claimed that his ministry is working towards creating 40,000 jobs within the current fiscal year.
While responding to questions raised by lawmakers in the National Assembly on Wednesday, Minister Thakuri made this claim.
He expressed confidence that the jobs created in the forest-related sectors would help prevent the migration of youth.
The Minister also mentioned that his ministry is focused on promoting the use of barren land for agricultural production by cultivating fruits and other crops on steep terrains through programs such as the President Chure Development Program, Climate Resilient Chure Program, and watershed-based livelihood projects.
He added that efforts are being made to reduce human-wildlife conflict by ensuring that wild animals remain within forest areas.
He emphasized that disaster risk reduction and forest management are top priorities for the Ministry.
