Maoist MP Sharma criticizes oppportunistic alliances, warns against monarchy return
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, MP Sharma expressed these views.

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) MP Janardan Sharma has stated that the tendency of political parties to form opportunistic and unprincipled alliances, driven by a thirst for power rather than focusing on improving the republic and people’s livelihoods, has led to problems in democratic practices.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, MP Sharma expressed these views.
He further warned that since the alternative to democracy is advanced democracy, there should be no imagination of a return to the monarchy.
He emphasized that his fear was not about the return of the monarchy but whether we can correct our weaknesses or not. He raised the question, “Whose fault is it that we have not been able to make laws according to the needs of the people even by the second term of implementing the constitution?”
He acknowledged that the problem behind not strengthening provinces and local levels is the centralized mindset, admitting that mistakes should not be ignored.
