NC MP Bimalendra Nidhi stresses protection of federal republic & constitutional reforms

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress MP Bimalendra Nidhi stated that political parties are ready to take any necessary steps to protect the federal democratic republic.
He made these remarks during a speech in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
Nidhi mentioned that the Nepali people have suffered under various forms of monarchy, from King Prithvi Narayan Shah to others who ruled with absolute power, depriving the people of their rights. He emphasized that the establishment of the republic was a result of the harmful effects of the monarchy.
He argued that federal democracy is the world’s most advanced political system and pointed out that the people have rejected any form of monarchy. He firmly stated that the monarchy will not be reinstated in Nepal.
MP Nidhi also stressed the need for constitutional amendments to grant more powers to the provinces. He called for the immediate creation of federal laws to effectively implement federalism.
