KATHMANDU: Minister of Forests and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, expressed optimism about resolving the issues related to private properties located within the core areas of national parks.

He stated that the ministry is committed to addressing these problems in a positive manner.

Speaking at a meeting of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday, Thakuri highlighted concerns over private buildings, lands, and business activities in the central areas of national parks, noting that existing regulations have created complications for property owners.

The minister emphasized that the ministry is prepared to simplify these rules to ease the situation.

Thakuri also pointed out that the current structure of the Mid-Zone Development Committee is different from what was initially intended.

He proposed that instead of making changes to the legal definitions through amendments, the government is considering simplifying the regulations within the existing framework through discussion and modification.

The meeting involved deliberations regarding amendments to certain provisions of the Nepalese law, specifically focusing on sections 9 and 72, which are related to the Ministry of Forests and Environment.
