Govt. declares public holiday on April 6, announces key appointments & decisions

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to declare a public holiday on the 24th of Chaitra for all government offices and public institutions.
The decision was made in the Cabinet meeting held on the 4th of Chaitra.
The Cabinet also decided to present the annual report of the Government of Nepal for the fiscal year 2023/24 to the President, in accordance with Article 53 of Nepal’s Constitution and Section 41 of the Good Governance (Management and Operations) Act, 2006.
Government spokesperson and Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, shared that the government will form a negotiation team led by a Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Finance to discuss the receipt of financial aid for the School Sector Reform Program from the World Bank.
Additionally, Naresh Raj Aryal has been appointed as the banking member of the Loan Recovery Tribunal.
The Cabinet also appointed Dinesh Prasad Bhatt from Baetdi as the Executive Director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
Key decisions made by the Cabinet include:
- Presentation of the Government of Nepal’s annual report for the fiscal year 2023/24 to the President, in line with constitutional provisions.
- Formation of a negotiation team for the receipt of World Bank assistance for the School Sector Reform Program, led by a Joint Secretary from the Ministry of Finance.
- Appointment of Naresh Raj Aryal as the banking member of the Loan Recovery Tribunal.
- Appointment of Dipak Thapa, Additional Inspector General of Police, as the new Inspector General of Nepal Police.
- Declaration of a public holiday on the 24th of Chaitra for government offices and public institutions.
- Appointment of Dinesh Prasad Bhatt from Baetdi as the Executive Director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
- Granting approval for Foreign Minister Dr. Arjun Rana Deuba’s participation in the 10th edition of the Raisina Dialogue, held in New Delhi, India from 4th to 6th Chaitra.
- Approval for the use of government land in Kavrepalanchok District for the construction of police stations in Bhakundebeshi and Pokhari Narayansthan.
- Promotions within the Nepal Army, including one promotion to the rank of Major General, one to the rank of Brigadier General, and extension of service for some Assistant Generals.
- Appointment of Yadunath Paudel from Arghakhanchi as the Managing Director of Janak Education Material Center Limited.
- Appointment of Pabitra Subedi from Surkhet and Ramsharan Sapkota from Makwanpur as members of the Teacher Service Commission.
