Extensive review must before constitution amendment: Maoist Centre Chair Dahal

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has pointed out the need of extensive review before making amendment to the constitution.
At the ‘People’s Cultural National Award-2081’ programme organized here today on the occasion of the 27th Cultural Resistance Day, he shared, “Consultation for the review of constitution should be held. Constitution amendment process should be forwarded only if the consultation draw conclusion in this regard.”
Stating that attempts to snatch the political achievements gained through struggle and sacrifice of the people could not be accepted, Chair Dahal stressed, “Such attempts will be defeated.”
Restoration of monarchy was impossible, he argued. Expressing the belief that the parties and groups having scientific socialism as their political objective would be united soon, the CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair added he would take efforts sincerely for the unity among left forces.

Nepal Communist Party’s politburo member Maila Lama said attempts to take the nation on a regressive course would not be successful under any circumstances. He stressed on unity among the Maoist parties and launch struggle against the regressive moves.
At the programme, Chair Dahal launched 10 books penned by Maoist Centre standing committee member and former minister Satya Pahadi.
On the occasion, Chair Dahal honoured the families of the cultural martyrs.
