NSU victory in Lamjung at two campuses

KATHMNADU: In the election for the Free Students Union (FSU) held at two campuses in Lamjung, the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) emerged victorious.

The elections took place at Bhakti Adarsha Multi-purpose Campus in Bhoteodar, Ward No. 9 of Sundarbazar Municipality, and Matribhumi Multi-purpose Campus in Ward No. 7, Sundarbazar.

Voting was held on Tuesday morning from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

At Bhakti Adarsha Campus, out of 81 votes cast, Sushil Adhikari from NSU secured 49 votes to win the position of President.

His opponent, Rajina Ghale from the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (ANNISU), garnered 32 votes.

In the position of Secretary, Arpana Adhikari from NSU received 46 votes, while Annisha Sunar from ANNISU received 29 votes, and Pramila Regmi from the All Nepal Students’ Union (Revolutionary) received 3 votes.

At Matribhoomi Campus, 75 votes were cast. Vishal Thapa from NSU won the President position with 55 votes, while Mandira Sarki from ANNISU received 19 votes. In the Secretary position, NSU’s Sarala Adhikari secured 46 votes, while Srijana Sarki from ANNISU received 26 votes.

Meanwhile, at the Mangala Campus in Middle Nepal Municipality-3, Sotipasal, the NSU panel was elected unanimously.

At Marsyangdi Multi-purpose Campus in the district headquarters, Bensisahar, there were 549 registered voters, with 413 votes cast.

Similarly, at the Agriculture and Animal Science Institute (Lamjung Campus) in Sundarbazar, 473 registered voters cast their votes, marking a 100% voter turnout. Voting in both campuses took place from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

However, no electoral process took place at Pushpalata Janaekata Campus in Duipiple Ramgha, Middle Nepal Municipality-4, and Ishaneswor Campus in Bharlatar, Ward No. 6.

Lamjung’s Chief District Officer, Buddh Bahadur Gurung, confirmed that voting was completed peacefully across all four campuses.
