‘Anjila’ receives overwhelming response, grosses Rs 20.7 million in first 3 days

KATHMANDU: The film “Anjila”, based on the life of national women’s football team captain and goalkeeper Anjila Tumbapo Subba, has received an overwhelming response from the audience since its release last Thursday on the occasion of Phagu Purnima.
The movie has seen a steady increase in the number of shows, quickly gaining popularity in theaters.
According to distributor Karan Shrestha, the film started its journey with 105 shows on its opening day.
Due to the rising demand from viewers, the number of screenings increased to 114 on Friday, 134 on Saturday, and more than 170 shows by Tuesday.
These figures clearly reflect the positive response and high demand for the movie.
Director Milan Chams stated that the increase in shows was driven by the positive feedback from audiences from the very first day.
Anjila vividly portrays the inspiring life journey of Anjila Tumbapo Subba, who moved to the capital with a dream of becoming a professional footballer, despite coming from a challenging family background.
The film powerfully depicts her struggles both before and after coming to the capital.
Anjila’s journey to becoming the captain of the national women’s football team has deeply moved audiences, with many leaving the theater visibly emotional by the end of the film.
This movie marks the 11th directorial venture of Milan Chams, who has been praised for his work. The film is produced by Prem Kumar Shrestha, who also plays the role of Anjila’s “godfather” in the story.
Anjila herself plays the lead role in the movie. Mao Tse Gurung and Dayahang Rai portray Anjila’s father, while Srijana Subba plays her mother.
Sumin Gurung stars as her brother, and Sunil Thapa plays the role of the coach.
The film also features performances by Buddhi Tamang, Bijay Baral, Manju Shrestha, and other notable actors.
The movie has grossed Rs 20.7 million in its first three days of release, according to reports from the producers.
Additionally, the film’s song “Raat Kin Hunchha Hajur”, sung by Thaneshwar Gautam and Shanti Shree Pariyar, has become widely popular.
The song’s lyrics were written by Prabha Bartola, and the music was composed by Thaneshwar Gautam.
