Nepal-Ukraine hold bilateral talks on relations, prisoner release, and UN support
The meeting took place on Tuesday during their participation in the 'Raisina Dialogue' organized by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.

KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba held a bilateral meeting in New Delhi.
The meeting took place on Tuesday during their participation in the ‘Raisina Dialogue’ organized by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
During the meeting, discussions were held on Nepal-Ukraine relations and various matters of mutual interest, as stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the occasion, Foreign Minister Dr. Rana clarified that Nepal does not have a policy allowing its citizens to enlist in the Russian military. She also requested the Ukrainian government to expedite the release of seven Nepali nationals currently held as prisoners of war in Ukraine.
These individuals had been forcibly recruited by Russian forces while being victims of human trafficking from remote regions of Nepal.
In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba committed to ensuring their release following due legal procedures.
Additionally, during the meeting, Minister Dr. Rana highlighted that Nepal has submitted its candidacy for membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council for the term 2027-2029 and requested Ukraine’s support in this regard.
Furthermore, during the meeting, an agreement was signed between the governments of Nepal and Ukraine, allowing for free visa issuance for diplomatic and official passport holders of both countries.
