Urban Development Ministry’s expenditure in current fiscal stands 17.93 percent
A total of Rs 91.38 billion was allocated for the Ministry this fiscal year.

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Urban Development has reported the expenditures amounting Rs 12.24 billion or 17.93 percent of the allocations till the third quarter of the current fiscal year 2081-82 BS (2024-2025).
Information about this was shared at a press meet here today.
A total of Rs 91.38 billion was allocated for the Ministry this fiscal year.
Of the total allocations, Rs 4.42 billion was for current expenditures, and Rs 63.83 billion was towards the capital expenditures.
So far, 25.23 percent of the budget under the current expenditures has been spent, while 17.43 percent of the capital expenditure has been utilized, it is said.
In the current fiscal year, among the 3,716 new programmes to be undertaken under the Ministry of Urban Development (Federal Office), tenders have been called for a total of 1,623 programmes with signing of contracts for 1098 and the completion of 124.
Among the remaining 2,093 programmes, 288 have been proposed as multi-year programmes.
According to Ministry’s spokesperson, Narayan Mainali, out of the 1,459 old programmes (carry-over and approved as multi-year), 280 programmes have been completed so far in the current fiscal year.
Out of the target to construct 330 suspension bridges, 162 have been completed to date.
Similarly, since the opening of the local Dharahara (the Bhimsen tower) for visitors from the Constitution Day (Sept 19) this year, over 130,000 people have visited it, contributing to the collections of revenue of Rs 2.37 billion.
