KATHMANDU: A 39-year-old man, Kusang Lama from Sindhupalchowk, has been arrested in possession of foreign currency worth approximately 25 crores.

The arrest took place early this morning in the Jhore area of Kathmandu.

Lama was apprehended while traveling in a truck (registration number Na 7 Kha 1652) that had been modified with a false bottom to conceal the cash.

According to the police, Lama was en route to Kerung when he was intercepted. This is not his first run-in with the law; he was previously arrested for gold smuggling.

In 2078, Lama was caught with 7 kilograms of gold while traveling in a Toyota Hilux (registration number Ba 8 Cha 7420) from Rasuwagadhi to Kathmandu, passing through the Galchhi area. He was released in 2078, but now faces additional charges.

The police have confirmed that Lama was carrying large amounts of foreign currency, including US dollars and euros.

Investigations are ongoing, and further details are expected as the case unfolds.
