KATHMANDU: The student union election at RR Campus has been postponed following a protest by NEVIsangh and Akhil Krantikari.
The election, which had been fully prepared, was halted after the All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU) locked the campus gates.
Both NSU and Akhil Krantikari have demanded that the election proceed as planned and have staged protests to support their cause.
In a joint statement, Election Committee Coordinator Mahesh Bhattrai and Campus Chief Dr. Padmakumar Adhikari confirmed that all necessary preparations for the election had been completed.
However, due to the lockout, the process could not move forward, leading to the postponement of the election.
ANNFSU claims that the campus administration has issued fraudulent identification cards, which led to their decision to lock the gates.
According to Bhattrai, the election process will resume only after discussions with relevant stakeholders and the determination of a new date.
