KATHMANDU: The Guthi Corporation has been continuously protesting since last month.

They are agitated over the government’s attempt to confiscate their land, which they claim to be rightful tenants of.

According to the Guthi Corporation Act (2021), they have been demanding that their rights as tenants be verified and that the land be officially registered in their names.

The farmers of Swargadwari Guthi have been protesting this issue since 2075 (2018). On 2nd of Shrawan, they held a meeting with the government, but since no resolution was reached, they have warned of intensifying their struggle.

The farmers demand that the land they have been cultivating be registered in their names.

Currently, 16,000 farmers from 12 villages hold tenant rights over 19,410 ropanis of land.
