He was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai for dehydration.
According to his family, he underwent a series of routine tests before being released.
Upon hearing about his hospitalization, Chief Minister MK Stalin contacted the doctors treating Rahman to check on his condition.
He later reassured fans on social media, confirming that the music legend was doing well. “As soon as I heard the news that Isaipuyal AR Rahman had been admitted to the hospital due to ill health, I contacted the doctors and inquired about his condition. They assured me that he is fine and will be back home soon,” Stalin wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
AR Rahman’s sister, Fathima Shekhar, confirmed his hospitalization in a voice note shared with the media, stating: “He experienced slight discomfort, and it was determined that dehydration was the cause. He’s been traveling extensively, and he is currently receiving IV fluids. He is doing fine.”
On Instagram, his son, AR Ameen, shared an update: “To all our dear fans, family, and well-wishers, I sincerely thank you for your love, prayers, and support. My father felt weak due to dehydration, so we conducted some routine tests. I’m happy to share that he is doing well now. Your kind words and blessings mean a lot to us. We truly appreciate your concern and continued support. Much love and gratitude to you all!”
One of the most influential and successful composers in Indian cinema, AR Rahman has earned numerous prestigious accolades, including two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, and six National Film Awards, as well as the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honor.
