KATHMANDU: Inter Miami secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Atlanta United in Major League Soccer (MLS) on Sunday, with captain Lionel Messi playing a pivotal role.
The match, held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, saw Miami’s win thanks to goals from Messi and Fafa Picault.
Atlanta took an early lead in the 11th minute with a goal from Emmanuel Laité Lath.
However, just 9 minutes later, Messi leveled the score, finding the back of the net for Miami. The first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
The decisive moment came in the 89th minute when Fafa Picault scored the winning goal for Miami, sealing the victory.
With this win, Inter Miami tops the Eastern Conference with 10 points from 4 matches, while Atlanta United has earned 4 points from the same number of games.
