KATHMANDU: Captain Bruno Fernandes continued his excellent form as Manchester United secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Leicester City in the English Premier League on Sunday.
Fernandes scored one goal himself and provided assists for Rasmus Højlund and Alejandro Garnacho, as United dominated Leicester at the King Power Stadium. With this win, United extended their unbeaten run to four consecutive matches in the league, while Leicester’s hopes of remaining in the top division suffered a blow.
Højlund put United ahead in the 28th minute, scoring his first goal in a competitive match since December. Garnacho doubled the lead with a goal in the 67th minute. Fernandes wrapped up the victory with a goal in the final minute, ensuring a dominant performance for United.
With this win, Manchester United climbed to 13th place with 37 points from 29 games. Liverpool remains at the top of the table with 70 points. Leicester, with just 17 points, sits second from the bottom.
Chelsea Defeated by Arsenal
In another Premier League clash, Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory over Chelsea, with Michael Merino’s header in the first half proving to be the match-winner.
This win strengthened Arsenal’s position in second place, keeping them 4 points ahead of third-place Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal now trails top-placed Liverpool by 12 points. Chelsea remains in fourth place, just one point ahead of fifth-place Manchester City.
