Nepse index sees decline on first day of trading week

KATHMANDU: On the first day of trading this week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index experienced a drop of double digits.

The Nepse index fell by 21.63 points, settling at 2,714.85.

Today, a total of 316 companies saw the trading of 13,974,452 shares, with 79,031 transactions taking place.

The total transaction value amounted to Rs 18.366 billion (NPR 1.836 billion).

Among the various sectors, the Trading group saw an increase of 4.92%, while all other sectors experienced a decline.

The Development Bank group witnessed the largest drop in its sub-index, falling by 2.25%.

Other sectors also recorded losses, with declines in Banking (0.80%), Finance (1.39%), Hotels and Tourism (0.53%), Hydropower (1.29%), Investment (1.72%), Life Insurance (1.06%), Manufacturing and Processing (0.01%), Microfinance (0.88%), Mutual Funds (0.04%), Non-life Insurance (0.72%), and Other groups (1.52%).

The stock of Community Microfinance Financial Institution Limited saw the largest increase today, rising by 8.19%. In contrast, Green Development Bank Limited witnessed a significant drop in its share price, which fell by 7.91%.

In terms of transaction value, Himalayan Reinsurance Limited recorded the highest turnover, with Rs 586.66 million in transactions.

Meanwhile, Ghalemdi Hydro Limited led the market in terms of the number of shares traded, with a total of 119,937 shares bought and sold.
