KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) has intensified its efforts to seize and destroy illegally imported white eggs from India.
The Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Satish Kumar Singh, had previously directed senior security officials in the province to control the illegal smuggling of eggs, chicks, processed poultry, chicken meat, crates, cartons, and vaccines.
As a result, the APF reported the confiscation and destruction of 324 crates of white eggs in the month of Falgun.
Additionally, on March 15, 45 crates of white eggs were seized and destroyed in Mahottari, as stated by Kalidas Dhauji, the Chief of the APF Madhesh Province Chhinnamasta Battalion Number 2 and Deputy Inspector General of the APF.
He mentioned that the APF has been carrying out regular operations to control the illegal transportation of white eggs, and this has now been turned into a campaign.
The Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association had earlier brought to the attention of Chief Minister Singh the issues caused by such illegal imports, highlighting the risks associated with the spread of bird flu in various regions of India.
There is a growing need to control the illegal import of poultry products due to potential health risks and the negative impact on local businesses.
