Robbery at Shivshanti Jewelers in Mahottari: Thieves steal gold, cash, and vault

KATHMANDU: A robbery has occurred at Shivshanti Jewelers located in Balwa, Mahottari.

A group of thieves broke into the shop by tampering with the lock and stole gold jewelry and a vault that was kept in the store.

The incident took place in Paroul Bazar, Balwa Municipality-3, as confirmed by the District Police Office.

According to CCTV footage, a group of thieves arrived in a jeep on Saturday night, carried out the theft, and fled towards Bardibas.

However, the exact details of the stolen gold and goods are still being confirmed.

Arun Kumar Sah, the owner of Shivshanti Jewelers, reported that the thieves, who reached in a group of five, took 20 tolas of gold, 150,000 in cash, the vault, and the hard disk of the CCTV camera.

After the thieves took the hard disk of the CCTV camera from the shop, they were captured in footage from nearby cameras, which recorded the jeep used in the theft and the suspects involved.

Although the robbery occurred at night, the theft was only discovered at 9 AM on Sunday morning, as reported by the shop owner, Sah.

Mahottari’s Superintendent of Police, Nakkul Pokharel, has started an investigation, along with police teams, at the Paroul location.

Notably, the Balwa Area Police Office is located near the scene of the crime.
