KATHMANDU: Five individuals were arrested in Kailali with a significant quantity of brown heroin (a narcotic substance) totaling 17 grams and 920 milligrams, according to the District Police Office.

Among them, 28-year-old Aditya Rana from Ward No. 6 of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City was arrested at the Trinagar checkpoint in Dhangadhi-3 with 2 grams and 860 milligrams of the drug.

He was stopped by police during a routine check while riding a motorcycle from Gaurifanta, raising suspicion.

In another operation based on confidential information about illegal heroin trade, 25-year-old Lakshman Chaudhary of Harinagar, Ward No. 7 of Ghodaghodi Municipality, was arrested.

A subsequent search of his house led to the discovery of a large quantity of narcotics. Police seized 15 grams and 60 milligrams of heroin from the pocket of a coat at Chaudhary’s residence.

Furthermore, police arrested 25-year-old Ram Chaudhary, 27-year-old Durgesh Chaudhary, and 35-year-old Ramesh Karki, all of whom are suspected to have been involved in the illegal drug operation.

The arrested individuals are currently undergoing legal proceedings, with the District Police Office confirming that appropriate action will be taken.

Police spokesperson, DSP Kavindra Singh Bohara, confirmed the ongoing investigations.
