KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress MP Ramkrishna Yadav has expressed dissatisfaction over the government’s preparations to provide lifelong benefits to former high-ranking officials through a new law.

Speaking in the House of Representatives on Sunday, Yadav voiced his concerns about the issue.

He mentioned that reports had emerged suggesting that the government is preparing to enact a law that would grant lifelong benefits to former dignitaries, despite the country’s economic challenges.

Yadav opposed such a move, highlighting the need for the government to focus on addressing the country’s economic difficulties.

He pointed out that corruption remains unchecked, young people are being forced to go abroad in search of employment, and citizens are dying due to lack of proper healthcare.

Yadav emphasized that the government should prioritize addressing these issues rather than providing lifetime perks to former officials.

In his statement, he noted that, given the current economic crisis, granting lifelong benefits to former officials would not be in the national interest.
