‘Hostel 3’ earns Rs 4.32 crore in first week

KATHMANDU: The Nepali movie Hostel 3, which premiered last Friday, has made its first-week earnings public.
According to the disclosed figures, the film has earned a total of Rs 4.32 crore in gross collection as of Thursday.
The director of Hostel 3, Sashan Kandel, who is also the managing director of the production company Samman Entertainment, shared the commercial data based on the DCR report received from distributors. “The business report given to us by the distributors is considered official. According to the distributor’s report up to Thursday, the film has earned a total gross collection of 4.32 crore,” Kandel said. Of this amount, the film has earned Rs 2.30 crore in the Kathmandu Valley and Rs 2.02 crore from outside the valley.
The film’s distribution in Kathmandu is handled by Kafiya Films, led by Govind Shahi, while outside the valley, RR Films, led by Rohit Kattel and Ratna Shrestha, is responsible for the distribution. Despite the release of three other new Nepali films, Hostel 3 has not seen a significant reduction in the number of shows in theaters. In some theaters, Hostel 3 is even being shown more frequently than the newly released films.
Additionally, Hostel 3 began screening on Thursday in Middle Eastern countries like the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain, where the audience turnout has been substantial.
The film has attracted a large youth audience, with many flocking to theaters even during the release of Non-Holiday. Featuring popular faces of the digital era, Hostel 3 stars Paras Bam Thakuri, Simran Panta, Aashish Ghimire, Padam Tamang, Hena Nagarkoti, Rhyaan Giri, and Sama Parajuli in key roles. Praveen Khatiwada plays the role of a warden. Ashish Purush, Rohan Shrestha, Umar Khan, and Santosh Baniya also appear in the film.
The screenplay and dialogue for Hostel 3 were written by Madhav Sharma, who also served as the associate director. The producers of the film are Suresh Kandel, Karn Karki, and Govind Adhikari, while co-producers include Shishir Gyawali, Anish Sigdel, Kundan Gupta, and Ganesh Magar. Shankar Koirala is the executive producer, and Kosis Raj Chhetri serves as the line producer.
