KATHMANDU: A total of 17 candidates have filed nominations for the post of chair in the upcoming Free Student Union (FSU) election at Tribhuvan University (TU) Central Campus, Kirtipur.

According to Campus Election Officer Prof. Krishna Prasad Neupane, the final candidate list includes representatives from various student unions such as ANNFSU, Nepal Student Union, ANNFSU (Revolutionary), and independent student groups.

Key contenders include Siddhant Bhatta from ANNFSU, Deepak Raj Joshi from Nepal Student Union, Praveen Dahal from ANNFSU (Revolutionary), and Dinesh Karki from the Independent Student Group.

Other candidates include Bilam Suwal (Nepal Revolutionary Student Union), Akkal Ranabhat (Nepali Student Forum), Narendra Singh Mahara (New Power Student Union), and Ujjal Bahadur Khadka (Independent Students TU).

Additionally, independent candidates Padma Bhusal, Sanam Wali, and Diprasan K.C. have also joined the race.

The TU Central Campus has 6,146 registered voters.

The deadline for candidate objections and withdrawals is set for today until 4 PM, with the final list scheduled for publication at 7 PM.

Campaigning will be permitted from March 13 (2 PM) to March 15 (midnight), while the FSU elections are set to take place on March 18 across TU-affiliated campuses.
