KATHMANDU: After completing the 15-day Mithila Parikrama, devotees have begun returning to Janakpur. The pilgrimage group rested on the 14th day in Vishoul, India, before heading back to Janakpur.

The return journey continues as pilgrims make their way back.

The devotees are expected to spend the night at various locations around Janakpur, including the historic Baidbigha Rangbhoomi Ground and Tirahtiyagachi.

The parikrama formally began after the Mithila Bihari idol arrived in Janakpur from the Mithila Bihari temple in Kachuri, Mithila Municipality-8. The journey was marked by the inclusion of the Kishoriji idol from another temple.

The pilgrimage, often referred to as the Maha Kumbh of Mithila, covered a vast 133 km route, traversing significant sites in Nepal and India, including Hanuman Nagar, Kalyaneshwar in Bihar’s Kalna, Girija Sthan in Fullahar, Mahottari’s Mathihani, and other sacred locations.

The journey will conclude tomorrow, Friday, with the final rounds at the inner sanctum of Janakpur.
