‘Hostel 3’ matches show numbers with two new releases

KATHMANDU: The movie Hostel 3, which has been running successfully in theaters since last Friday, is continuing to draw large audiences.
The film has secured a wide number of shows even in its second week, competing with two new Nepali releases, Anjila and Outlaw: Dafa 219, which were launched during the auspicious occasion of Phagu Purnima.
By Wednesday evening, Hostel 3 was still enjoying full-house screenings and has received massive appreciation.
Director Sashan Kandel mentions that some viewers have watched the film multiple times, a testament to the positive word-of-mouth and strong audience interest. The film has been praised for exceeding expectations, providing complete entertainment, with audiences even cheering for the cast.
Another film, Non Holiday, which targets the youth demographic, is also drawing crowds. Starring popular faces from the digital era such as Paras Bam Thakuri, Simran Pant, Aashish Ghimire, Padam Tamang, Hena Nagarkoti, Rhyaan Giri, and Sama Parajuli, it has captured the interest of Nepali cinema’s core audience. Pravin Khatri plays the role of the warden, with Ashish Purush, Rohan Shrestha, Umar Khan, and Santosh Baniya also in the cast.
Director Kandel expressed his happiness at receiving unexpected love from audiences for his debut film, thanking them for the support. He mentioned that Hostel 3 performed beyond expectations, both commercially and in terms of audience feedback.
The film has also been released in the Middle Eastern countries of the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain starting Thursday. Actor Padam Tamang has traveled to Qatar for promotions, where distributors report strong demand for the film.
Written by Madhav Sharma, the screenplay and dialogue were crafted by Kandel himself. The producers are Suresh Kandel, Karn Karki, and Govinda Adhikari, while the co-producers include Shishir Ghwali, Anish Sigdel, Kundan Gupta, and Ganesh Magar. The film’s executive producer is Shankar Koirala, with Kosis Raj Khetri as the line producer.
The cinematography is directed by Arjun Tiwari, editing by Devendra Dahal, and action directed by Himal KC. Music is composed by Arjun Pokharel, Almoda Rana Upreti, Mahesh Ghwali, and Kiran Michael. Production design is by Yam Oli, with dance direction by Pravin Singh and Roshan Biskarma. The distribution is handled by Kaffiya Films in the Kathmandu Valley and RR Films outside the valley.
