The story portrays her emotional journey from childhood to her struggles and success in sports.

KATHMANDU: On the occasion of Holi, the Nepali film Anjila has been released for public screening.
The movie is based on the life of Nepali Women’s National Football Team captain, Anjila Tumbapo Subba, who also plays the lead role in the film.
The story portrays her emotional journey from childhood to her struggles and success in sports.
The premiere held in Kathmandu on Monday received widespread positive feedback.
Anjila has been receiving enthusiastic screenings across the country, with many shows attracting a significant number of viewers.
Typically, midday shows on Holi don’t see much of a crowd, but Anjila defied this trend, according to distributor Karan Shrestha.
Alongside Anjila, the film features notable actors such as Sunil Thapa, Dayahang Rai, Bijay Baral, Srijana Subba, Mao Tse Gurung, and Buddhi Tamang. The film was shot in locations including Anjila’s birthplace, Ilam, Aitabare in Jhapa, and Kathmandu.
Director Chams believes that despite the challenges of making a sports-based film with limited local resources, Anjila will make a significant impact.
Producer Prem Kumar Shrestha expressed hope that the film will inspire those interested in sports, highlighting that Anjila’s story is as captivating as the screenplay itself.
