Balochistan train hijack : 155 hostages rescued, 57 killed

KATHMANDU: Security forces in Pakistan have rescued 155 hostages after armed insurgents attacked a train in Balochistan, local media reported.
The operation resulted in the deaths of 27 militants and 30 security personnel.
During the rescue, 37 passengers sustained injuries. According to railway officials, the train had nine coaches and carried over 400 passengers.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) attacked the Jaffer Express on Tuesday while it was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, taking several passengers hostage.
Security officials said some passengers were still under BLA’s control.
Earlier, the BLA claimed to have taken 214 hostages out of 425 passengers aboard.
A military official revealed that more than 100 army personnel were traveling on the train from Quetta.
