Quorum controversy resolved in HoR

KATHMANDU: A dispute over quorum arose during today’s House of Representatives meeting as the process to present a replacement bill was underway.

However, after a three-minute notification bell, the required quorum was confirmed.

During the session, Chief Whip of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Hit Raj Pandey, emphasized that at least one-fourth of the total members must be present to table any proposal for decision.

He urged for verification of the quorum.

In response, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana instructed the Secretariat to ring the notification bell for three minutes to confirm the attendance.

Following this, she announced that the required quorum of 69 members had been exceeded, with 95 members present. The session then proceeded as planned.
