KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Bina Lama has accused the National Natural Resources and Finance Commission of distributing grants based on favoritism rather than fair criteria.

Speaking during a session of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Lama criticized the commission for allegedly misusing American aid funds under the US Aid (USAID) program.

Lama claimed that officials of the commission were involved in the misuse of USAID assistance and demanded a thorough investigation.

She stated, “It appears the commission has been distributing grants based on partisan interests rather than any set standards or criteria. There have also been reports of USAID funds being misused with the commission’s approval, and the involvement of its officials is concerning. This reflects irresponsibility, and I urge for an impartial investigation and transparency on this matter.”

The MP also called on the government to investigate the issue of the commission’s role in the grant distribution and bring the matter to the attention of the House.
