KATHMANDU: Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was taken to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands, on Tuesday night, 12 hours after his arrest.

His lawyer, Martin Delgra, shared an image on social media showing the 79-year-old being transported on a small aircraft.

Duterte’s close ally, Salvador Medialdea, was also onboard.

Duterte was detained on Tuesday morning following an ICC-issued arrest warrant, a move he has questioned.

The presidential communications office has not yet commented on his departure.
