Tourism promoter in Portugal dismissed over royalist letter

KATHMANDU: Ramesh Raj Bastola has been removed from his position after issuing a statement on the Nepal government’s letterhead in support of the former king, addressing him as “Shree 5.”

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation had sought an explanation regarding the matter.
However, finding his response unsatisfactory, the ministry decided to dismiss him.
According to a statement issued by Assistant Spokesperson and Information Officer Gokarna Prasad Upadhyaya, a written clarification was requested on Falgun 25 under Clause 5 of the 2079 procedure.
As the response was deemed unsatisfactory, the ministry, through a ministerial decision, relieved Vastola of his duties on Falgun 26.
