Madhesh beats Koshi by 165 runs in PM’s Cup

KATHMANDU: In the ongoing Prime Minister’s Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament in Bhairahawa, Madhesh Province defeated Koshi Province by a massive margin of 165 runs.
This is Madhesh’ first victory in the tournament, while it marks Koshi’s second loss.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first at the Siddhartha Cricket Ground in Bhairahawa, Madhesh Province scored 284 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Chasing a target of 285, Koshi’s innings ended at 119 runs in 33 overs.
Madhes’ captain Anil Sah, Pawan Sharaff, and Dipesh Das were the standout performers. All three played half-century knocks.
Anil scored 75 runs off 75 balls with 10 fours, Pawan made 92 runs from 85 balls with 2 sixes and 11 fours, while Dipesh contributed an unbeaten 56 off 60 balls, including 1 six and 7 fours. Harishankar Sah also made 29 runs.
For Koshi, Prakash Karki and Bipin Mahato claimed 2 wickets each, while Firdous Ansari and Dipesh Kandel took 1 wicket each.
Pawan Sharaff was named “Man of the Match” for his outstanding performance.
In reply, Koshi’s batting struggled as Saqib Hak scored 25, Sujan Thapliya made 24, Firdous Ansari contributed 21, and Dipesh Kandel scored 20.
For Madhesh, Rupesh Singh was the star bowler, taking 5 wickets. Rajesh Yadav picked up 3 wickets, while Harishankar Sah and Pradeep Paswan claimed 1 wicket each.
On Wednesday, a match between Tribhuwan Army Club and Sudurpashchim Province will take place at the Siddhartha Cricket Ground.
