KATHMANDU: The much-anticipated Nepali film Mahabhoj is set to release on Jestha 15 (May 29), coinciding with Republic Day.

The announcement was made on Tuesday along with the unveiling of the film’s first poster.

According to the producers, the film will have a simultaneous release in Nepal and other countries with significant Nepali diaspora.

Powerful Poster Reflects Social Themes

Designed by Royal Bhimsen, the poster features the lead actors in intense and determined expressions. The background prominently incorporates Nepali currency, symbolizing economic disparity and power dynamics. At the center, Aryan Sigdel is seen wearing a traditional Nepali cap, possibly representing a political or administrative figure.

Surrounding him are Dayahang Rai, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Gaumaya Gurung, and Malika Mahat, each displaying emotions of anger, struggle, injustice, and resilience.

Strong Cast & Experienced Director

Directed by Dinesh Raut, Mahabhoj is his eighth film, known for portraying realistic and socially relevant themes. The film stars Aryan Sigdel, Dayahang Rai, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Gaumaya Gurung, Malika Mahat, along with Basundhara Bhusal, Mohan Niraula, Buddhi Tamang, Kamal Mani Nepal, Pushkar Gurung, Binod Neupane, Abha Aryal, and Birendra Singh Kushwaha in pivotal roles.

Production & Technical Team

Produced by Himal Kadariya under Clock Work Creation and Picture Frame, the film’s screenplay is written by Bikas Subedi. Rajesh Shrestha handled cinematography, Nimesh Shrestha worked on editing, and Uttam Neupane was responsible for sound design. The chief assistant director is Dinesh Bahadur Rawat.
