Worker dies, another injured in rockfall at high-speed rail construction site

KATHMANDU: A fatal accident occurred at a high-speed rail construction site in the Kocasinan district of Kayseri province, Turkey, when rocks fell from above, killing one worker and injuring another.

Provincial Governor Gökmen Şişek confirmed the incident.

At the time of the accident, seven workers were present on-site, and an excavation machine was operating. Five workers managed to escape when large rocks fell, but one was struck directly and died, the governor reported.

The injured worker was immediately taken to the hospital. Authorities have taken necessary precautions following the incident.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) swiftly reached to assist, and further safety measures will be implemented to prevent such accidents in the future.
