KMC launches advanced skin treatment with cutting-edge technology

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Medical College (KMC), known for providing quality and accessible healthcare services, has begun offering advanced treatments for various skin diseases using state-of-the-art technology.

The new skin treatment services were inaugurated with the addition of advanced technology, led by Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma, a leader of the Nepali Congress and a Member of Parliament.

Currently, KMC has installed five high-capacity devices for skin-related treatments. These include machines for hair removal and preventing facial aging, among others. KMC’s new offerings include cutting-edge equipment like Hair Reduction Laser Machines, PicoSecond Laser Systems, Microneedling Radio Frequency Devices, CO2 Laser Smoke Evacuators, and Skin Analyzer Bitmoji.

The hospital aims to provide these services at affordable rates, focusing on the prevention and treatment of skin diseases through AI-based machines.

According to KMC, the new technology allows for the effective treatment of numerous skin issues with ease. This comprehensive facility is a first in Nepal, bringing together treatments for various skin problems in one place.

The treatments are available for individuals aged 16 and above. KMC has a long-standing reputation for prioritizing skin-related diseases and providing quality care.

What Do the Devices Treat?

• Hair Reduction Laser Machine: This machine is used to stop future hair growth and eliminate unwanted hair from areas like the face, chest, underarms, and legs. It targets the pigment in the hair, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.

• PicoSecond Laser System: A sophisticated laser technology, it addresses skin pigmentation issues such as age spots, sunspots, melasma, and freckles. It stimulates collagen production, improves skin texture, reduces fine lines, and overall enhances skin rejuvenation, helping give a youthful appearance.

• Microneedling Radio Frequency Device: A cosmetic tool used to tighten skin and improve its texture. It reduces scars and improves skin tone with minimal downtime.

• CO2 Laser Smoke Evacuator: This device is used to remove skin tags and other growths without antibiotics, offering a non-invasive solution for skin conditions.

• Skin Analyzer Bitmoji: Designed to assess skin health and condition, this AI-powered device provides personalized treatment recommendations based on hydration, texture, pores, and aging signs.

Social Contribution by Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma

In addition to his work at KMC, Dr. Sharma has been a driving force behind numerous free health camps across Nepal, providing medical care to thousands of impoverished individuals.

He has arranged free treatment at KMC and Nobel Medical College for those unable to afford healthcare.

Notably, he is the only Member of Parliament who refuses his salary and allowances, instead dedicating resources to provide life-saving services to those in need.

Dr. Sharma’s efforts in making healthcare accessible to marginalized communities are seen as a major contribution to improving public health across Nepal.
