KATHMANDU: The number of CPN-UML members abandoning the party in Achham is on the rise.

Following Dr. Bhim Rawal’s expulsion from the CPN-UML, leaders from Achham have begun defecting to other political parties.

Local leaders, including current and former representatives, have been switching their allegiance from UML in significant numbers.

Some have joined Dr. Rawal’s “Matri Bhumi Jagaran” campaign, while others have affiliated themselves with the Maoist Centre, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Nepali Congress.

Among these defectors, Lalit Dholi, the former ward chairperson of Kamal Bazar Municipality Ward No. 4, has joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

His decision to join RSP has created a stir within UML, given his position as a member of the party’s Achham District Secretariat.

Dholi had been elected as the ward chairperson in the 2074 local elections on a CPN-UML ticket.

His switch to RSP has led to intense discussions, particularly on social media, after his membership in the new party was made public on Facebook.

As of now, Dholi has refrained from offering any official comments on his decision to join the new party.

This shift highlights the growing divide within CPN-UML in Achham following internal leadership changes.
